Kobre & Kim’s Victor D.V. Clementino joined Brazilian and Korean legal professionals and business leaders at the “Dialogues on South Korea | Cultural Impacts on Technology, International Relations, and Dispute Resolution” event in Recife, Brazil, organized by the Brazil’s Chamber of Business Mediation and Arbitration – CAMARB and the local chapter of the Brazilian Bar Association.
As a panelist on the session titled “International Landscape of Mediation and Arbitration”, Mr. Clementino offered comparative insights into the dispute resolution frameworks in South Korea and Brazil.
Mr. Clementino discussed the practical implications of South Korea’s unique legal and economic environment, including the role of large family-run conglomerates, and explored how these factors shape the country’s dispute resolution ecosystem. He also addressed how Brazilian counterparties should plan ahead—both when drafting arbitration clauses and during arbitral proceedings—to anticipate cross-border recognition and enforcement issues and maximize their prospects of recovery.
The event brought together practitioners to exchange experiences on international dispute resolution trends, cultural influences, and governance challenges in rapidly evolving markets.
